Interest Groups

Members of the Association who are engaged in the same general field or have special interest in common may organize into an interest group after obtaining the approval of the petition by the Council.  Each interest group is entitled to a minimum of $50 per year for its activities or $2 per member from members' annual Association dues, whichever is greater.  Prior to the beginning of each membership year, the Membership chair will determine the two largest Interest Groups, each of which will then be entitled to a council representative for the ensuing fiscal year.  Interest groups not specifically represented on the Council will be represented by the Members-At-Large.

Archives & Special Collections

The Archives & Special Collections group will appeal to special collections librarians, archivists and librarians responsible for manuscripts, rare books, and other "special" collections or those who are interested in such materials.

Reference & Adult Services

This interest group is for reference, reader's advisory and adult services librarians or those who are interested in such services. Along with creating a group to allow experts to network, a vital goal is to connect experts with librarians responsible for reference or adult services but without prior training or experience.

Youth Services Section

YSS is focused on promoting and improving library service to young people. It is open to children's librarians as well as others interested in library service to young people.
