Maine Library Excellence Award
Applications may now be sent in for the 3rd annual Maine Library Excellence
Award. The MLEA honors one or more public libraries that have provided
outstanding service to their communities. The award is either for a successful
ongoing program or a one-time program that occurred during the last three years.
Nominations will be judged on service to the community, creativity and
innovation, and leadership in creating model programs. Application deadline is
October 2, 2006. Informational packets are being sent to all public libraries.
There have been some changes to the award process this year-- including $500
cash awards-- so be sure to look into this important award! For more information

Lincoln Memorial Library, Lincoln
The Library has a new service: an Online Book Club that
delivers books electronically. Five days a week , the library emails subscribers
a portion of a book that takes about 5-minutes to read. this allows you to read
two or three chapters from a book during the week. If you like a book, check it
out of the library or purchase it online or at your local book store. Each week
the library features new books. Patrons can choose from 11 different genres,
there's something for everyone. Select Fiction, Nonfiction, Romance, Business,
Good News, Teen, Mystery, or listen to Audio Books. Not interested ? try our
pre-publication club. Start reading books in your email before they're even
published. Now you can discover great books, even if you're too busy to visit
the library. You can sign up for the service at the library or at the Town's web
site: www.lincolnmaine.org and click just on the "Book Clubs" link .You don't
need to have a library card to use this service or even live in Lincoln. Tell a
friend or relative living on the other side of the country to sign- up. Read the
same book, than discuss it on our online book discussion page. What a way to
keep connected to someone you love.
