Maine Library Association
Maine Library Legislative Day is Monday, January 29th, 2024!
Please join us in the Hall of Flags of the State Capitol. You will have the opportunity to tour the Chambers, learn more about the Law and Legislative Reference Library, and learn tips and tricks to be an empowered advocate for libraries.
This day is a great way to learn more about the legislative process, how to start your advocacy journey, and spend time with other people in the field and learn from their experiences. This is the perfect opportunity to connect with people in your field who share your concerns.
And for those who are experienced advocates, this is an excellent opportunity to schedule meetings with your legislators, and share your expertise with your peers. The registration form allows you to signup for the special events we will be hosting that day, choose what you need!
MLA is partnering with the Maine State Library to offer some virtual advocacy workshops, one before and one after the event, to help those who have questions or would like to share their experiences. We will send a separate email with registration links for these special professional development opportunities.
Remember, advocacy can be part of your everyday, but one day a year we have the Hall of Flags to show our impact as a sector and our importance as a connection between elected officials and the communities they represent. Please complete the registration form, and contact me at advocacy@mainelibraries.org if you have any questions or ideas you'd like to share.
Sincerely,
