There is now an Access Services Cohort of the Maine Library Association’s Academic Interest Group. The goal of this cohort is to foster connection and camaraderie between library staff who work in Access Services, Circulation, or other such departments in academic libraries across Maine. The current plan is to meet once a semester online via Zoom, in addition to the in-person conferences hosted by MLA.

First Meeting -  Wednesday, November 8th at 1:00pm (Online via Zoom)

The Fall semester Zoom will be a guided conversation on Training Student Employees in access services. We ask participants to bring some examples of their student employee training methods as well as any questions, issues, or thoughts about training student employees. All participants will walk away with an accumulative list of the suggestions and methods mentioned during the session.

Hosting this session are Laurie Mathes, University of New England, and Jerry Lund, University of Maine Orono. Liz Bull, University of Southern Maine and the MLA Academic Interest Group Chair, will also be present to facilitate the discussion.

If you would like the Zoom link for this meeting or have additional programming ideas and are interested in helping us grow this cohort, please email: academic@mainelibraries.org
