Coffee Chat: Soft Censorship

ALA's preliminary 2024 censorship data shows a decline in formal book challenge attempts, but they also note increased instances of "soft censorship, where books are purchased but placed in restricted areas, not used in library displays, or otherwise hidden or kept off limits due to fear of challenges." This coffee chat will offer an opportunity to discuss the real pressures faced by library workers due to organized censorship campaigns and intimidation, and share resources to help us resist censorship and uphold our responsibilities to protect every patron's freedom to read.
