Coffee Chat: Working with your Local Legislator

Join the Maine Library Association Legislative Committee to learn more about how you can work with your local representatives to advocate for your Library! 

Legislative Chair Amy Stone will moderate a discussion with Rep. Amy Kuhn and Rep. Sam Zager to talk about both sides of this important issue. There will be time for your questions, so email advocacy@mainelibraries.org before the chat if there's anything you want to know, we want to make sure we have time to talk about what's important to our members! 

Representative Amy Kuhn (District 111) is serving her first term in the Maine House of Representatives. She is a member of the Judiciary Committee. She has served on the Falmouth Town Council since 2018 and in other roles for numerous community organizations, including the Falmouth Memorial Library Board of Trustees, the Falmouth Food Pantry, Falmouth schools, youth booster organizations and more. Rep. Kuhn holds a bachelor’s degree from Goucher College. She is also a graduate of George Washington University Law School and is a member of the Maine Bar. She has worked with nonprofit organizations in Maine for nearly 20 years.

Representative Samuel Lewis Zager (District 116) is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives. He is a member of the Health and Human Services Committee. Rep. Zager is a Secretary of the Navy Distinguished Graduate of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, with an honors degree in history. He attended the University of Oxford as a FitzGerald scholar, completing his dissertation on race and earning a master of philosophy in economic and social history. While in England, he also worked at the U.S. Embassy in London, and was a collegiate rower. Rep. Zager has published research and writings focused on the social determinants of health and the structure of healthy communities. He is a lifetime fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and has served on the boards of the Portland Public Library and the Maine Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Deering Post #6859 and Temple Beth El synagogue in Portland.

The Coffee Chat Series is an MLA Membership benefit. Registration is open to all members, and the event Zoom link will be provided in your registration confirmation email. This event will not be recorded.
